/ About Us
LEGACY-56, Inc. began with a group of friends born in an era of world changers, during a time when civil rights were center stage. Entering segregated schools in 1962 in Pinellas County, Florida, we were the test of Brown v. the Board of Education. Our Founding Board were grouped together and nurtured together since age 12 and some as early as first grade.

After 40 years, the group reunited to recapture and pass on the legacy of rich cultural heritage, spirit, identity, and family values that were bestowed by our ancestors. It is our aim to remember, reclaim, restore, and realize (make real) all that was invested in us so we can use it to contribute to the building of our community.

Sankofa Series
Sankofa is a West African term that means, it's not wrong to "reach back and fetch it". Each year we host a signature event to celebrate the legacy of honorees born and raised in St. Petersburg who are making a national impact. Below we feature our honorees for 2018, 2019, and 2022!
